Soft Furnishings

Soft furnishing consists of all furnishing elements that are made of soft material. Our soft furnishing options will complement your home décor and other furnishing.

Soft furnishing is a practical way to enhance energy efficiency as soft materials help to retain heat. Moreover, it is also great at absorbing sounds and thus offers a form of sound insulation. Our designers will help you make the perfect choice to create a harmony in your home.

Slip Covers

Slip covers can be used on virtually any kind of furniture – sofas, occasional chairs, dining room chairs, ottomans, benches and headboards. They can change the look of an older piece of furniture, hide an unfortunate mistake (we’ve all made them!), match a new wall colour or the changing season.

Outlooks Design can help you narrow down the choices in fabric design and colour, and navigate the dizzying array of slipcover styles now available, such as piped or not piped, inverted pleats with or without contrast, short or long skirts – the list goes on.

Re-upholstering antique or heirloom pieces has always been very popular and is a great way to keep something you love looking wonderful. We work with local craftspeople to make sure your antiques get specialized attention to retain both their beauty and value.

The growing trend today is to recover even “regular” or simply out-of-date pieces as well, rather than relegating them to the basement or tossing them in the landfill. A good environmental option, sometimes it’s also less expensive than buying new furniture – and you’ll never see what you have anywhere else! Your recovered furniture will always be one-of-a-kind.

There are fabric selections for many other soft furnishing accessories, which can be created especially for you. Shower curtains, decorative accent cushions, table cloths (inside and out), are manufactured locally and provide the individual look you want. Our soft home décor accessories are tailored to create harmony in your home using texture and textiles.

Boats can be challenging spaces to furnish, but there’s no reason they can’t be both comfortable and chic! We work with experienced local tradespeople to restore and furnish marine interiors, from “stem to stern” and everything in-between, including counters and cabinetry, soft furnishings, window coverings and custom bed linens.

We’ve honed our expertise working with and on various styles of manufactured vessels including these: Voyager Offshore 90; Fleming 65; Garden Long Range 57; Grenfell 45; Bayliner 42; Nordic Tug 42 and many more.

Outlooks Design provides templating for unique window covering solutions, complete upholstery retrofitting and new furnishings as well as custom bed linens for your boat or yacht.

We offer our marine window coverings, marine window treatments and marine soft furnishings and upholstery services to Vancouver Island boaters and those from across the border, into the Pacific Northwest and the Cascadia region.

At Outlooks Design, we know timing is always key in project management and early planning is essential, so don’t delay – call us as soon as possible to ensure your boat looks fresh and new for your next nautical adventure.
